This HO scale “San Jose Southern” is based on the 1950's Denver & Rio Grande Western standard gauge line from Miniturn, Colorado, to Tennessee Pass. While the layout features heavy manifest freights, passenger service, a local and helper locomotives assisting trains on the 3% grades, the Rocky Mountains provide the setting - Twenty-two miles of railroad torture. The layout features walk-around design with a lower staging level and 140’ of seamless aluminum backdrop of prototype scenes painted by Greg Gray. The 13’ x 44’ - 145’ mainline uses code 83, 70 and 50 rail and is controlled with Digitraxx DCC. Bench and track work are finished but only about 30% of the scenery has been installed so work continues on that phase of the layout.
