The Mineral & South Fork Railway is a freelanced On30" layout that is set in a mountainous region of western United States just after the turn of the century. Hard rock mining is the main source of revenue for the railroad with trains bringing ore from Mountain City and Cascade to the mill town of Mineral. However, coal is also available being transferred by the On20" Consolidated Mining & Smelting Railway.
Located in a 17' by 47 ' room the layout will eventually have scenery from the floor to the 9' ceiling . Approximately, 20% of the scenery is completed. The mainline is approximately 250' and is laid with Code 70 track and turnouts from Micro Engineering. A number of scratchbuilt structures and trestles have been completed. Power and sound comes from Digitrax
